Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 450:
Sold for: $400
Description
An antique German bolt-action military rifle, identified by receiver markings as an "I.G. Mod. 71/84" (Infanterie-Gewehr Modell 71/84), a variant of the Mauser Model 1871/84. The rifle features a dark wood stock with blued steel components and is fitted with a worn leather sling. Prominent markings on the receiver include "SPANDAU." (referring to the Spandau arsenal), a crown over "F.W. 2" (likely a royal cipher or inspection mark), and the year "1888.", indicating its period of manufacture. Visible serial numbers such as "2349" and "4649" are also present.
Materials: Antique
Condition report:
The rifle is in good antique condition, showing expected signs of age and military use, including numerous scratches, dings, and some deeper gouges on the stock. There is a visible crack in the wooden fore-end. The metal surfaces exhibit finish wear with patina.
