Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 454:
Sold for: $170
Description
A Belgian WWI M1915 Adrian Helmet, constructed from olive drab-painted metal with a distinctive flaring brim and a raised central crest. An applied metal emblem depicting a lion’s head in relief is affixed to the front. It features a worn brown leather chin strap with a metal buckle. The interior reveals a corrugated metal band and a heavily deteriorated leather or treated fabric suspension liner with laces.
Condition report:
Fair to poor condition. The exterior exhibits extensive paint loss, exposing areas of surface rust and numerous scratches. The metal shell shows some minor dents and abrasions consistent with field use and age. The applied lion\'s head emblem is intact but shows wear to its relief. The brown leather chin strap is worn, cracked, and partially detached, with corrosion present on the metal buckle. The interior corrugated metal band shows oxidation. The original leather or treated fabric suspension liner is heavily deteriorated, brittle, and largely fragmented, with laces present but fragile.
