Description
A vintage WWII Trench Art .50 Caliber Combat Shell Desk Lighter by Shaw-Barton. This desk lighter is crafted in the form of a .50 caliber bullet, featuring a golden-toned metallic casing resembling a spent shell, topped with a silver-toned bullet-shaped cap that, when removed, reveals the lighter mechanism. It is mounted on a reddish-brown, textured, trapezoidal base with gold lettering reading “R. J. REYNOLDS / Dental Laboratory / PUEBLO, COLO.” The accompanying paper insert, titled “Combat Shell Desk Lighter,” states it is made from a genuine .50 caliber combat shell, fired during World War II, manufactured by an organization of disabled veterans, and is “A PRODUCT OF SHAW-BARTON.” The item comes with its original patterned cardboard box and the yellowed informational insert.
Condition report:
Good overall condition. The original patterned cardboard box and paper insert show typical age-related wear, including yellowing to the paper. The lighter and base show minimal visible damage.
