A U.S. Navy Model 1889 Colt Revolver .38 Caliber Cartridge Box, dating to the Spanish-American War era. This utilitarian dark leather military pouch features a curved rectangular body with a hinged flap closure and two belt loops on the reverse. The front flap bears a clear embossed “USN” within an oval. The interior reveals a natural brown leather lining and a wooden insert designed with two circular recesses and several small rectangular slots, suggesting it held specific components. Inside the flap, there are additional, less distinct, embossed letters and numbers, likely “H2M” within an oval. Constructed primarily from aged leather with internal wooden elements and minor visible green oxidation on metallic fittings.
