Description

A reproduction 1860 pattern US cavalry officer’s saber, accompanied by its scabbard. The steel blade is extensively etched with patriotic and military motifs, including an American eagle, weaponry, flags, floral scrolls, and the clear inscriptions “U.S.” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM”. Its hilt is constructed from gilt brass, distinguished by pierced “US” letters in the guard, and a grip wrapped in black material, secured with twisted gilt-wire. The accompanying scabbard is crafted from polished steel or plated metal, fitted with two suspension rings.

Condition report:

Apparent condition indicates moderate wear. The hilt\'s gilt shows some tarnishing and rubbing. The blade exhibits surface wear, scratches, and areas of darker discoloration or light pitting, especially on the etched sections. The scabbard displays significant surface abrasions, dents, and reddish-brown oxidation.
