Gun Collectors Dream Auction #81 January 31st & Feb 1st
Lot 105:
Sold for: $625
Description
This is a single semi-automatic rifle identified as a Brownells Inc. BRN-16A1, built as a faithful modern reproduction of the early M16/AR-15 carbine style, often associated with the XM177 or CAR-15 aesthetic. The rifle is chambered in 5.56MM. The lower receiver is clearly marked BROWNELLS INC MONTEZUMA, IA USA and displays the model designation MOD. BRN-16A1, caliber CAL. 5.56MM, and serial number SER. BRN1309. The receiver features ‘SAFE’ and ‘SEMI’ selector settings. The rifle is configured with a fixed A1-style carry handle upper receiver and an A1-style fixed polymer buttstock. The handguard is a ribbed, round, black polymer assembly typical of early carbine models. The barrel is fitted with a long, cylindrical muzzle device resembling an early sound moderator or faux flash suppressor, consistent with the retro carbine appearance. The rifle is fitted with an olive drab canvas sling, and a piece of matching paracord is tied around the A2/A1-style fixed front sight base. No magazine is included with this lot.Overall Length: Not measuredBarrel Length: Not measured
Condition: The rifle is in excellent overall condition, retaining the vast majority of its black anodized finish across the metal components. There are minor handling marks visible on the receiver surfaces. The polymer furniture is generally excellent, though the A1-style pistol grip exhibits notable handling wear, including scuffing and flattening of the checkering, suggesting use. The fixed A1 buttstock shows minor surface scratches but no cracks or major damage. The bore condition is unknown without specialized inspection tools. The action appears to function correctly in semi-automatic mode. We have not function-tested this firearm, and it is sold as a collector’s item. It is the buyer’s responsibility to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal firearms laws.
