Description

A single antique Belgian-made exposed hammer, break-action, side-by-side shotgun featuring double triggers. The firearm is marked with several patent dates and unique inscriptions, suggesting manufacture in the late 19th century, classifying it as an Antique. The barrels are marked PRIZE QUALITY—LAMINATED STEEL, indicating a Damascus or twist steel construction typical of the period. The lock plates feature light scroll engraving and are marked Patd June 20 1883 on one side and Prise Gun on the other. The water table and underside of the barrel assembly bear several markings, including proof marks consistent with Belgian origins, the stamp BELGIUM, and the patent dates PATD MARCH 27, APRIL 14, JUNE 20 1883. The inscription NOT FOR SALE is also visible on the water table. The primary visible serial or assembly numbers include 36031, 860, 11789, and 996. The gauge is unmarked and unknown. The furniture consists of a splinter forearm and a buttstock constructed of dark-grained wood, fitted with a composite buttplate adorned with an engraved game scene.
