Lot 1165:
A Lot of 70 Rounds of Hornady and Georgia Arms .44-40 Winchester Cowboy Ammunition
Sold for: $50
Description
This lot consists of 70 rounds of modern, factory-loaded centerfire ammunition designed for Cowboy Action Shooting (CAS) in the historic .44-40 Winchester (.44 WCF) caliber. The lot is comprised of two distinct packages. The first package is a 20-cartridge box of Hornady COWBOY Action Loads. The headstamps visible on these cartridges read HORNADY 44-40 WIN. The second package is a clear plastic bag containing 50 rounds manufactured by Georgia Arms. The label on the bag identifies the ammunition as GEORGIA ARMS G4440B 44-40 WINCHESTER COWBOY LOAD 200GR LEAD ROUND NOSE FLAT POINT (NEW AMMUNITION), with a stated velocity of 800 FPS. Both types feature bright brass casings and lead projectiles, consistent with low-velocity loads optimized for vintage firearms like the Winchester Model 1873 and Colt Single Action Army revolver.
Condition report:
The pistol is in fair to poor overall cosmetic condition due to heavy modification and residue. The black finish on the slide shows minor handling marks and light scratches. The most significant defect is the heavy, crusty, solidified residue or modification material covering the entire grip area and extending onto the frame near the trigger guard. This material appears to be a failed or heavily degraded aftermarket grip wrap or adhesive, consistent with vinyl gun skins seen in market research. The OD green polymer frame beneath the residue appears structurally sound. The bore condition cannot be assessed without disassembly. The action appears to function correctly when cycled manually, but we have not function-tested this firearm. It is the buyer\'s responsibility to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal firearms laws.
