Lot 182:
Remington High-Gloss Press-Checkered Walnut Shotgun Forend 12 Gauge
Sold for: $140
Description
This is a single high-grade walnut forend, consistent with those manufactured by Remington for their repeating shotgun series, such as the Model 1100 or Model 870, typically chambered in 12 Gauge. The component features a deep, rich, high-gloss varnish finish over dark hardwood. The exterior is extensively decorated with wrap-around fine-point press checkering. The checkering is bordered by elaborate scrollwork, incorporating distinct central motifs, including a cross shape on one side and stylized double scrolls or wings on the opposite side. The interior features a deep channel designed to accommodate the operational linkages of a repeating shotgun. A small piece of green adhesive tape is adhered near the front end.
Condition: The wood exterior is in Very Good overall condition, retaining the majority of its high-gloss finish, showing only minor surface scratches consistent with handling and light use. The checkering remains sharp. The internal metal retaining ring/cap visible at the muzzle end exhibits severe pitting and heavy reddish-brown rust corrosion. We have not function-tested this component. It is the buyer’s responsibility to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal firearms laws.
