Description

This lot consists of one vintage stacked-handle hunting knife manufactured or distributed by Western Auto Supply Company, paired with a later or mismatched Browning marked leather sheath. The knife features a full tang construction with a carbon steel blade exhibiting an upswept or trailing point profile. The handle is constructed of stacked spacers, including alternating layers of red, black, and brass, surrounding a textured, reddish-brown wood grip section. The knife is finished with a brass finger guard and a polished aluminum pommel cap.Visible Markings (Knife Ricasso): WESTERN AUT. SUPPLY CO. / PAT NO. 1-962-47.Visible Markings (Sheath): BROWNING U.S.A. / 5818.The sheath is dark brown leather with a basketweave texture across the body.BBL: Not applicableOverall Length: Not measured
Condition: The knife is in heavily used condition consistent with age and field use. The carbon steel blade retains a bright finish but shows heavy scratching, darkening, and minor surface rust, particularly concentrated near the upswept tip. The cutting edge appears dull and may require sharpening. The stacked handle is tight; the wood grip section shows significant texture loss and wear to the reddish stain. The brass guard and aluminum pommel show surface scratches and minor dings. The accompanying Browning sheath is heavily worn, dry, and stiff, with significant scuffing and darkening to the leather, especially around the edges and belt loop area. The stitching remains intact.
