Description

This lot consists of a single vintage fixed-blade hunting knife accompanied by a fitted leather sheath. The knife features a robust drop point blade profile, characteristic of mid-20th-century hunting and camp knives. The blade exhibits faint markings near the ricasso, appearing to be "I.C." or "1.C.". The handle is constructed with thick bone or stag scales displaying a prominent, dark, grooved pattern often referred to as ‘tiger stripe’ or jigged bone/stag. The scales are secured by two metal pins. Fittings include a simple, unadorned steel or nickel-silver finger guard and a heavy, rounded metal pommel cap. The knife is paired with a dark brown leather sheath, featuring perimeter stitching, consistent with custom or high-quality production accessories of the period.
Condition: The knife is in heavily used, fair to good overall condition consistent with its age and intended purpose as a field tool. The blade surface shows extensive wear, including deep scratching, scattered surface pitting, and significant oxidation and dark patina, particularly along the cutting edge and tip. The edge appears to have been repeatedly sharpened. The metal fittings (guard and pommel) are dull and show surface wear but are structurally sound. The stag or bone handle scales are intact and securely pinned, exhibiting natural discoloration and aging. The accompanying dark brown leather sheath is worn, scuffed, and creased, but the leather remains supple and the stitching is generally intact. This item is sold as a collectible; we have not tested its structural integrity under field conditions.
