Gun Collectors Dream Auction #81 January 31st & Feb 1st
Lot 492:
Sold for: $250
Description
A single Italian-made black powder percussion revolver, manufactured by F.LLI Pietta, replicating the design of the Remington New Model Army. This specific variant features a brass frame, trigger guard, and grip strap, contrasted by the blued finish of the long octagonal barrel, six-shot cylinder, and rammer assembly. The firearm is a single-action pistol chambered for .44 caliber black powder only. Visible markings on the barrel include BLACK POWDER ONLY .44 CAL and F.LLI PIETTA – MADE IN ITALY. The serial number R520931 is engraved on the butt strap. Italian proof marks (CIP/PN, CZ) and the date code ‘2020’ are present near the frame junction and barrel. The revolver is fitted with two-piece smooth dark wood grips, likely walnut. The hammer and rear portion of the frame show residual case coloring or heavy blueing. This firearm is classified as a modern black powder replica and is not subject to standard federal firearms transfer requirements, though state and local laws apply.Caliber: .44 Caliber PercussionAction: Single-Action
Condition: Overall condition is good, showing signs of use consistent with a modern black powder firearm. The blued finish on the barrel and cylinder remains strong, retaining approximately 90% coverage, with minor handling marks visible. The brass frame, trigger guard, and grip strap exhibit notable patina, discoloration, and handling wear typical of brass components that have been handled or fired. The wood grips are solid, showing minor scratches and dings but no major cracks or losses. The action appears to function correctly, cycling the cylinder and locking the hammer in both half-cock and full-cock positions. The bore appears bright with strong rifling, though we have not inspected the bore with a scope. We have not function-tested this firearm with live powder or caps. It is the buyer’s responsibility to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal firearms laws.
