Description

A specialized heavy-duty mechanical press manufactured by MEC (Mayville Engineering Company), identified as the Super Model 8577 Siler. This apparatus is designed for the dedicated resizing and conditioning of shotshell bases, a critical step in preparing spent hulls for reloading. The press is constructed primarily of robust cast iron and steel, featuring a two-section assembly bolted together. The base elements are finished in red paint, while the heavy-duty linkage mechanisms are painted black. Operational components include a large helical compression spring and a chromed cylinder/ram component. The press is operated via two separate lever handles fitted with red ribbed plastic or rubber grips. Markings include “SUPER MODEL 8577” and “SILER” molded into the right base assembly. The base plate is further stamped with “RELOADING” and references to “U.S. PATENTS.” An adhered vertical identification label confirms the manufacturer “MEC” and displays the Part Number P/N: 8119410 and Serial Number S/N: R399120000171307. This is a dedicated tool used by serious shotshell reloaders to ensure consistent shell dimensions.
