Description

A classic Stevens Model 87A semi-automatic rifle manufactured by Savage Arms Corporation in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts, U.S.A. This rifle is chambered for .22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle ammunition, though the barrel is clearly marked indicating that only Long Rifle cartridges should be used for automatic cycling. The rifle features a blued steel barrel and receiver assembly paired with a highly polished, dark reddish-brown synthetic composite stock and forend, exhibiting a distinctive marbled pattern often associated with Tenite or similar early plastics used in mid-century firearms production. The action is a simple blowback design utilizing a tubular magazine housed beneath the barrel. Sighting is achieved via an open adjustable rear sight and a fixed front sight post. The bolt handle is bright metal and features attractive concentric knurling. The receiver assembly is stamped with multiple patent numbers relating to the design: 2094577, 2224758, 2226093, RE22585, and 2271676.
