Lot 1589:
Lyman Ideal No. 55 and Vintage Powder Measures Lot of Three Reloading Tools
Sold for: $170
Description
This lot features three vintage powder measures manufactured by Lyman Ideal, highly sought after by ammunition reloaders and collectors for their robust cast metal construction and reliable volumetric dispensing. The measures are essential components for precision handloading of ammunition, designed to accurately dispense smokeless powder charges into cartridge cases. The lot includes three distinct measures and one accessory part. Two measures feature the iconic bright orange cast metal body, characteristic of the Lyman No. 55 Ideal Powder Measure series. These models utilize clear or translucent plastic hoppers (one slightly yellowed) and adjustable metering mechanisms. One orange measure incorporates a small piece of light-colored wood integrated into the housing. The third measure features a red cast metal body, a tall smoke-tinted clear hopper, and a long red mounting bracket and black operating lever, suggesting an earlier or heavy-duty model variation. The accessory item is a small, dark cylindrical metal object, likely a spare powder measure drum or weight used for calibration or specific charge settings.
