Gun Collectors Dream Auction #82 February 21st & 22nd
Lot 350:
Sold for: $20
Description
This lot consists of a pair of vintage mechanical balance beam scales manufactured by The Redding Company of Cortland, New York. These precision instruments were designed for the handloading of firearms ammunition, specifically for the accurate measurement of smokeless powder and lead bullets. Each unit features a heavy, textured cast-iron base with the Redding name embossed on the front. The scales utilize a solid brass beam graduated from 0 to 325 grains, featuring a sliding brass counterpoise and a threaded leveling screw for zeroing the balance. Each set includes its original lightweight aluminum measuring pan and wire hanger. These scales represent the mid-20th-century era of American reloading equipment, marketed under the company’s “O.K. EVERY WAY” quality guarantee. Capacity: 325 grains.
