Lot 416:
Michael W. Smith Handcrafted Turkey Box Calls, Mixed Wood Set of Three
Sold for: $160
Description
This lot consists of three custom-made wooden friction box turkey calls, handcrafted by Michael W. Smith. Each call is designed to produce realistic turkey vocalizations (yelps, clucks, and cuts) through the friction created by rubbing the hinged lid against the box edges. The lids of all three calls are identically stamped with the maker’s mark: a circular logo featuring a central turkey track silhouette, surrounded by the text “Handcrafted By Michael W. Smith.” The calls showcase a variety of finished hardwoods. One call is constructed of dark brown wood, consistent with walnut, while the remaining two calls are made from a medium reddish-brown wood, consistent with cherry. Each lid is secured by a single brass-toned metal pin near the striking end. The interiors of the boxes reveal lighter, unfinished wood surfaces, typical of acoustic call construction. These calls are highly specialized hunting accessories favored by serious turkey hunters and collectors of custom game calls. No measurements are available.
