Description
This lot consists of a collection of five professional gunsmithing tools primarily designed for stock inletting and handgun maintenance. The group includes three Gunline Tools barrel bedding tools, one of which is housed in its original factory box labeled New BBT Barrel Bedding Tool. These specialized instruments feature dual wooden handles—one bulbous and one straight—connected by a curved metal shank with a central multi-blade circular cutter for precision wood removal. Also present is a wood inletting rasp featuring a light-colored wooden handle and a curved metal shank ending in a coarse filing surface for stock shaping. The final item is a Brownells 1911 Auto Checkering Guide, part number 080-684-000, contained in its original printed plastic sleeve with instructional inserts. Key markings include the Gunline Tools logo and BBT model designation on the box, and the Brownells, Inc. branding with the Montezuma, Iowa address on the checkering guide packaging.
Condition report:
The tools exhibit signs of use consistent with a workshop environment. The metal components on the bedding tools and the rasp show varying degrees of surface oxidation and light patina. The wooden handles display general wear, minor dings, and staining from handling. The original Gunline box shows significant shelf wear, edge fraying, and staining to the cardboard. The Brownells plastic sleeve remains intact but shows yellowing and handling marks.
