Description
This lot consists of 54 individual 16-gauge shotgun shells loose-housed in a cardboard box. The majority of the ammunition features red plastic hulls identified as Winchester Rabbit and Squirrel loads, while a smaller number of purple plastic hulls are also present. The Winchester shells are marked for 2 3/4 inch (70 mm) chambers and contain shot sizes 6 and 8. Verbatim markings on the hulls include Winchester Rabbit and Squirrel Load and 2 3/4 In. | 70 mm. Headstamp transcriptions identify two manufacturers: one type is marked 16 Winchester Western GA, and the second type is marked 16 GA Made in U.S.A. accompanied by a bird-in-flight symbol, which is the hallmark of the Federal Cartridge Corporation. These are unfired factory loads intended for field use.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in unfired condition but shows signs of age and shelf wear. The brass-colored metal heads exhibit tarnishing and surface oxidation. The plastic hulls are intact but show some surface dust and debris from storage. The factory crimps appear undisturbed and the primers are un-struck, indicating the rounds are live factory loads.
