Description
This lot consists of three rectangular metal cans of FFg Superfine Black Rifle Powder, representing 3 Lbs Total, designed for use in muskets, pistols, and shotguns. Each canister is marked with a net weight of 16 oz. or 454 grams. The grouping includes two canisters from GOEX, Inc. and one from Gearhart-Owen Industries, Inc., all produced at the Belin Plant in Moosic, Pennsylvania. Verbatim markings include FFg Superfine Black Rifle Powder and the specific manufacturer names. The labels include the stylized logo and explicit warnings regarding explosive materials. The reverse side of each can contains handling and storage precautions alongside a graphic of a powder horn. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The metal canisters show varying levels of preservation. The first GOEX can exhibits minor surface wear and small spots of oxidation. The Gearhart-Owen can shows significant rust on the cap, top, bottom, and seams, with heavy staining and partial label loss. The third GOEX can remains in good condition with minor scuffing and light rust on the rims. All three cans retain their original screw-top caps. The powder is assumed to be live, though its propellant quality has not been tested. The cans appear to be full based on weight.
