Description
This lot features a collection of 4 vintage 16 oz. metal containers of GOEX brand black rifle powder, representing 3 LBS total of propellant. The group includes one can of GOEX Superfine Black Rifle Powder, grade FFg, with a standard red and cream label; one can of GOEX Black Rifle Powder, grade FFg, featuring a front label applied upside-down and a white tape label at the top with handwritten 3F EXP; one 80th Anniversary commemorative can (1912-1992) of GOEX Black Rifle Powder with handwritten notations 1/2 + 1/2 on the upper shoulder; and one can of GOEX Superfine Black Rifle Powder with a paper tape strip across the front bearing the handwritten notation FFFF. Verbatim markings on the containers include GOEX, Inc., Explosives Division, Belin Plant, Moosic, Pennsylvania and Net Wt. 16 Oz. (454 Gr.). The labels also feature the text Danger! Explosives and The Authentic Propellant. Each container retains its original screw-top cap. These items are being cataloged as vintage shooting accessories and collectibles; the status and quality of any remaining internal contents are not verified. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The metal containers show a condition consistent with age and previous use, featuring minor surface oxidation on the top and bottom rims. The lithographed labels remain largely legible but exhibit light scratches, scuffing, and adhesive residue from tape applications. The screw-top lids are present and appear to be in functional order. The contents are assumed to be live black powder, though the chemical stability and ignition quality have not been tested.
