Description
This Dillon Precision Model RL 300 is a vintage progressive reloading press designed for the high-volume production of centerfire ammunition. The unit is built upon a heavy cast metal frame finished in the manufacturer’s signature blue powder coating and features a tool head currently fitted with multiple reloading dies and a manual powder measure with a brushed aluminum hopper. A long steel primer feed rod is mounted to the assembly, and the lot includes two cylindrical plastic tubes of different sizes intended for case or bullet feeding. Key markings include the manufacturer’s foil label which is transcribed verbatim as MODEL RL 300, 1980, SERIAL NUMBER, DILLON PRECISION PRODUCTS, INC., SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA 85260, 602-948-8009, and PATENT APPLIED FOR. The serial number field on the label remains blank. Additionally, the frame base features raised cast lettering that reads DILLON RL 300.
Condition report:
The press shows signs of age and significant use, with a layer of surface grime and dried lubricant throughout the mechanism. The blue powder-coated finish remains largely intact but exhibits scattered chips and wear, particularly at the edges of the frame. There is heavy surface oxidation and rust present on the steel primer feed rod, the exterior of the reloading dies, and various assembly hardware. The aluminum powder hopper shows light surface scuffing and minor oxidation. One plastic tube is clear, while the second tube shows heavy amber-colored yellowing and age-related discoloration. The mechanical action appears to move, but the unit has not been function-tested for reloading precision or completeness of all internal components.
