Gun Collectors Dream Auction #83 May 2nd & 3rd TWO DAYS - NO RESERVES - 1200 LOTS!
Lot 1208:
Description
This lot consists of a collection of black powder percussion revolver components manufactured by F.lli Pietta in Italy, primarily intended for 1851 Navy style revolvers. The collection includes two blued octagonal barrel assemblies with attached case-hardened loading levers, one chambered in .36 caliber and the other in .44 caliber. Also included are four percussion cylinders, a brass trigger guard and backstrap grip frame, a set of walnut grips, and various internal components including flat springs, screws, and pins, accompanied by a Wolff Precision Gunsprings sear and bolt spring card. One cylinder is housed in a small brown leather belt holster. Key markings transcribed verbatim include FLLI PIETTA-MADE IN ITALY and the FAP diamond logo on the barrel flats, along with BLACK POWDER ONLY 36 CAL. and BLACK POWDER ONLY 44 CAL. respectively. Italian proof marks including CIP over PN are visible on the cylinders and barrels. This lot is comprised of components only and is missing the main frames and various internal lockwork parts required to assemble a complete firearm. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The components are in generally good condition, retaining a high percentage of their original blued and case-hardened finishes. There are minor surface scratches and small areas of thinning finish consistent with handling and disassembly. The brass grip frame shows a natural patina and some light handling marks. The wood grips are intact with minor dings. Bores appear bright with well-defined rifling. Mechanical functionality cannot be tested as the components are disassembled and incomplete.
