Description
This is a sporterized U.S. Model 1917 bolt-action rifle chambered in .30-06 Springfield. The firearm features a blued finish on the barrel and receiver, retaining its original military-pattern protected front post sight and adjustable rear ladder sight housed between protective ears. The rifle has been converted to a sporter configuration and is fitted with a dark wood stock featuring a Monte Carlo-style cheekpiece and a black textured buttplate bearing the mark FAJEN. Key markings include the receiver bridge stamped verbatim U.S. / MODEL OF 1917 / EDDYSTONE / 823870. The barrel is marked near the front sight with an E over a flaming bomb symbol followed by 1-18, signifying an Eddystone-produced barrel from January 1918. Additional proof marks and inspection stamps are visible on the receiver and bolt handle. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal surfaces retain a thinned blued finish with a dark patina and areas of handling wear, along with minor surface oxidation and light scratches consistent with surplus use. The wood stock shows various dings, scratches, and compressions from field use, but remains structurally sound. The Fajen buttplate shows some wear to the textured surface. The bolt action appears to function correctly when cycled, though the firearm has not been function-tested
