Description
This lot consists of a pair of metal canisters manufactured by E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. intended for ammunition reloading. The first item is a green 8-ounce canister labeled SR-4756 Smokeless Powder, featuring the red DuPont oval logo and a black ink stamp on the reverse reading P73AP30B 10145. The second item is a maroon 1-pound canister labeled IMR-4350 Improved Military Rifle Powder, also bearing the DuPont logo. Both canisters are constructed of metal with red screw-top caps and include detailed safety warnings and manufacturer information. Key markings include the manufacturer designation Manufactured by E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Co. Incorporated Wilmington, Delaware, U.S.A. and specific weight designations of 8 OUNCES AV. and 1 POUND respectively. The canisters are representative of propellant packaging used by handloaders during the mid-to-late 20th century.
Condition report:
The canisters exhibit signs of age-related wear including surface oxidation and light rust on the exposed metal rims and red screw-top caps. The painted labels show some scuffing and minor paint loss, particularly along the edges and corners. A partially torn yellow price sticker is present on the front of the maroon IMR-4350 canister. The metal bodies remain structurally sound without significant deformation.
