Description
This lot consists of a pair of vintage metal containers of smokeless powder manufactured in Canada for the IMR Powder Company of Plattsburgh, New York. The first container is an orange and white can of IMR 3031 smokeless powder, and the second is a blue and white can of IMR 7828 smokeless powder. Both rectangular cans are marked with a net weight of 16 oz or 1 lb and feature the IMR logo with the text Formerly Supplied by DuPont. The reverse of each can includes extensive safety warnings and handloading instructions, including the IMR Handloader’s Guide for Smokeless Powders graphic. Prominent markings include DANGER! EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE, NET WT. 16 OZ. (1 LB), and MANUFACTURED IN CANADA FOR IMR POWDER COMPANY PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. 12901. Each can is fitted with a red metal screw-top lid. While the containers appear to be unopened, the internal contents have not been verified for quantity, quality, or chemical stability.
Condition report:
The IMR 3031 container exhibits moderate surface rust and oxidation along the top and bottom rims as well as the side seams. The IMR 7828 container shows a yellow sale price sticker on the front face and exhibits minor shelf wear with light oxidation to the metal rims. Both cans remain structurally sound with legible graphics. The powder within has not been inspected or tested; the lot is sold as a collectible accessory and the stability of the contents is not guaranteed.
