Description
This lot features a collection of 61 cartridges of .308 Winchester centerfire rifle ammunition contained within four vintage commercial boxes. The packaging consists of two green Remington Hi-Speed boxes, one red and white Winchester Silvertip Super Speed box, and one white and blue Hawthorne box, which was a Montgomery Ward house brand. The cartridges are a mix of soft point and full metal jacket projectiles. Key markings transcribed from the headstamps include R-P 308 WIN, WCC 60 with red primer sealant, SUPER SPEED WINCHESTER 308 WIN, and F C 308 WIN. The vintage cardboard boxes show various handwritten price marks and signs of long-term storage.
Condition report:
The ammunition is in varied condition, with some rounds retaining a bright brass finish while others, particularly the surplus WCC 60 rounds, show light oxidation and tarnish. The projectiles appear to be in good order. The vintage cardboard boxes exhibit significant shelf wear, edge fraying, and some scuffing. The ammunition appears to be live, but as with all vintage ordnance, it has not been function-tested.
