Description
This is a disassembled Colt Model 1877 Lightning double action revolver chambered in .38 caliber. The lot consists of a frame and barrel assembly, a six-shot fluted cylinder, a backstrap, a trigger guard, a mainspring, a cylinder pin, and a single grip panel featuring an aged yellow finish with a brown stag-like texture. Key markings include the caliber designation COLT D.A. 38 on the left side of the barrel and the two-line address COLT’S PT. F. A. MFG. CO / HARTFORD CT U S A on the top of the barrel. The left side of the frame is stamped with a three-line patent date mark reading PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871. / ” ” 15. ” 74. / ” JAN. 19. ” 75. while the trigger guard is marked 38 CAL. The serial number 19692 is clearly stamped on the bottom of the frame forward of the trigger guard. This item is missing one grip panel and various internal components, though four plastic bags containing assorted screws and small parts are included, with two bags hand-labeled Trigger Guard and 38 Cylindr Str. Note – As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.
Condition report:
The firearm is in a non-functional, disassembled state. The nickel-plated finish exhibits heavy wear, significant flaking, and pitting, most notably on the cylinder and barrel surfaces. The single included grip panel shows aging and wear consistent with the metal components. Internal mechanical function cannot be verified due to the disassembled condition. The assorted small parts in plastic bags show varying degrees of surface oxidation and wear.
