Description
This Winchester Model 70 XTR is a bolt-action rifle chambered in .264 Winchester Magnum, a high-velocity caliber designed for long-range sporting use. The rifle features a blued steel barrel and receiver, complemented by a bolt body with decorative jeweling. It is mounted in a checkered walnut stock with a high-gloss finish, featuring a Monte Carlo comb, a left-side cheekpiece, a black forend tip, and a black pistol grip cap with white spacers. Key markings include the barrel roll-mark “WINCHESTER ® MODEL 70 XTR – 264 WIN. MAGNUM” followed by “MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL.” The right side of the receiver is stamped with the serial number “G1462539” and a small circled “WP” proof mark. The rifle is equipped with an adjustable folding rear leaf sight and a front sight ramp, though it is currently missing the front sight blade. The receiver is fitted with a scope mount base, and the stock includes sling swivel studs and a ventilated black rubber recoil pad embossed with the “WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS” logo. Condition report:
The rifle is in very good physical condition, with the blued finish on the barrel and receiver remaining strong and showing only minor handling wear and light surface marks. The jeweled bolt body exhibits some light surface oxidation. The walnut stock retains a high-gloss finish with a few small scratches and minor dings consistent with light use. The bore is bright with sharp, well-defined rifling. The bolt action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. As noted, the front sight blade is missing from the ramp.
