Description
This Thompson/Center Arms Contender is a break-action single-shot pistol currently configured with a 14-inch Super 14 barrel chambered in .44 Remington Magnum. The firearm features a matte stainless-finished receiver decorated with scrollwork and cougar engravings on both sides. It is equipped with black Pachmayr polymer finger-grooved grips and a matching polymer forend, both of which are inset with gold-colored manufacturer medallions depicting a cougar. The pistol is topped with a silver-finished Burris 2X optic, serial number 66741, secured by a black four-ring mount. Key markings include the serial number A5720 on the tang behind the hammer. The fitted barrel is stamped verbatim THOMPSON : CENTER ARMS / ROCHESTER, N. H. / 44 REM MAG / SUPER 14. Included in this lot is an additional 14-inch Super 14 barrel chambered in .223 Remington, bearing similar manufacturer and location stamps along with 223 REM and SUPER 14. Also included is a black nylon sling and a brown basketweave-patterned leather holster stamped THOMPSON CENTER ARMS / P 1. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The matte stainless finish on the receiver and both barrels is in overall good condition, exhibiting minor handling marks and light surface scratches consistent with field use. The bores are bright with well-defined rifling. The break-action mechanism appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. The Pachmayr polymer grips and forend are well-preserved with only minor scuffs to the high points. The Burris optic features clear glass and a crisp reticle. The leather holster shows signs of moderate use with some wear to the finish and edges but remains supple with intact stitching.
