Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 100:
Sold for: $80
Description
This lot consists of 100 rounds of American Eagle .223 Remington ammunition, packaged in five individual 20-round boxes. These centerfire rifle cartridges feature a 55-grain full metal jacket (FMJ) boat-tail projectile, designed primarily for target practice, training, and high-volume range use. The black cardboard packaging features a stylized eagle and an AR-15 silhouette. Key markings on the box faces include the manufacturer name American Eagle, the vertical designation AR 223, and 20 CENTERFIRE RIFLE CARTRIDGES. The end flaps provide specific technical data, transcribed verbatim as American Eagle, 223 REM., 55 GRAIN FMJ, and the product code AE223J. Each cartridge is factory-loaded with a boxer-primed brass case, making them suitable for reloading.
Condition report:
The ammunition and its original commercial packaging are in overall good condition. The cardboard boxes show light shelf wear, including minor scuffing and small indentations at the corner edges, but they remain intact and structurally sound. The cartridges appear to be in factory-new condition, with no visible signs of corrosion, oxidation, or tarnish on the brass cases or the copper-jacketed projectiles. All ammunition appears live and is stored in its original factory configuration.
