Description

This Remington Model 12-C is a pump-action rimfire rifle designed for use with .22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle cartridges. It is configured with a full-length octagonal barrel and an under-barrel tubular magazine, though this specific example is fitted with the wrong ammo tube which appears to be a non-standard replacement. The receiver and barrel exhibit an original blued finish that shows significant thinning, honest wear, and areas of light surface oxidation and minor pitting. The rifle features a straight-grip walnut stock and a ribbed wooden forend, with the stock terminating in a crescent-shaped steel buttplate. Sights consist of a fixed front blade and an adjustable rear notch. Prominent markings include the model designation MODEL 12-C and the serial number 644541 on the left side of the receiver. The top of the barrel is marked REMINGTON ARMS-UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO., REMINGTON WORKS, ILION, N.Y. U.S.A. followed by patent dates: JAN. 5, 1909, OCT. 12, 1909, MAR. 8, 1910, NOV. 21, 1911, and APR. 16, 1912. The left breech of the barrel is stamped 22 SHORT, LONG OR LONG RIFLE, and the buttplate bears the circular REMINGTON UMC TRADE MARK. It is important to note that the rifle is currently non-functional and doesn’t fire. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The metal surfaces retain a fair amount of original bluing, but show heavy thinning, handling wear, and scattered patches of surface oxidation and minor pitting consistent with a field-used firearm of this age. The walnut furniture remains structurally sound but displays numerous dings, scratches, and typical handling marks throughout. The action is currently non-functional and the firearm doesn\'t fire; additionally, it is fitted with a non-factory magazine tube. The bore was not inspected.
