Lot 1080:
Sold for: $450
Description
This Savage Model 342A is a bolt-action rifle chambered in .22 Hornet, a popular small-game and varmint cartridge. The rifle features a tapered round barrel with a blued finish that shows significant thinning and wear, transitioning to a mottled brownish patina with areas of light surface oxidation. Prominent markings include the caliber designation 22-HORNET on the left side of the barrel and an import mark transcribed as C.A.I. ST. ALB. VT. on the underside. The receiver is clearly stamped SAVAGE 342A followed by SAVAGE ARMS CORPORATION CHICOPEE FALLS, MASS. U.S.A., and the number A 063 is visible on the right side. The rifle is mounted in a one-piece wood stock featuring checkered panels at the wrist and forend, which displays scattered scratches, dings, and finish wear consistent with field use. It is equipped with a Bushnell Scope Chief 4X optic featuring a crosshair and center dot reticle on a Weaver side mount, as well as a ramped front sight and an adjustable rear leaf sight. The assembly is completed with a single detachable box magazine, a rear sling swivel stud, and a black checkered polymer buttplate. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The metal surfaces retain a fair amount of original bluing with significant wear, thinning, and patches of light surface oxidation and a brownish patina. The wood stock is in fair condition, showing numerous dings, scratches, and areas of finish loss, but remains structurally sound. The bore was not inspected. The bolt action appears to function smoothly, although the rifle has not been function-tested. The Bushnell scope optics are clear with a defined reticle, though the exterior tube shows light finish scuffs. The included magazine shows typical finish wear.
