Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 1117:
Sold for: $60
Description
This lot comprises 100 rounds of .223 Remington centerfire rifle ammunition produced by Black Hills Shooters Supply out of Rapid City, South Dakota. The ammunition is housed in two original blue cardboard boxes, each containing 50 rounds in protective foam trays. The cartridges are assembled using surplus military brass from the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, with visible headstamps including LC 83, LC 85, and LC 87. The rounds feature copper-jacketed lead core bullets. Box markings include the company logo and the .223 Remington caliber designation.
Condition report:
The ammunition shows significant signs of improper storage and age. Many brass cases exhibit heavy tarnishing, oxidation, and prominent green verdigris corrosion, particularly around the case necks and primer pockets. The primers show similar oxidative wear. The copper jackets on the bullets display light to moderate tarnishing. The cardboard packaging remains intact but shows moderate shelf wear, edge scuffing, and some minor tearing at the corners.
