Description

This is a single Wards Western Field No. 17 bolt-action shotgun chambered for .410 gauge and 3-inch shells. This model was manufactured as a store-brand variant of the Mossberg Model 70, functioning as a single-shot utility firearm. The shotgun features a blued finish on the barrel and receiver with a polished steel bolt and a large ball handle. The furniture consists of a smooth wood stock with a finger groove in the forend and a black composite buttplate. It is equipped with a fixed brass bead front sight and a rear notch sight mounted to the barrel. Verbatim markings on the barrel include Wards Western Field and NO.17 .410 GA. 3 INCH PROOF TESTED. A small circled P proof mark is visible on the left side of the barrel near the receiver. As a single-shot model, this firearm does not require or utilize a magazine. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.

Condition report:

The shotgun is in good overall condition. The blued finish on the barrel and receiver shows areas of thinning and a light surface patina consistent with age. The wood stock retains a smooth finish with several minor handling marks, dings, and surface scratches visible, but remains structurally sound. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. The black composite buttplate shows minor wear at the edges. The bore is not visible in the provided images but the exterior condition suggests the firearm has been well-maintained.
