Description
This Marlin Model 55 Goose Gun is a bolt-action shotgun chambered for 12 gauge 3-inch magnum shells, designed specifically for long-range waterfowl hunting. The firearm features an exceptionally long 36-inch blued steel barrel fitted with a brass bead front sight and a fixed rear notch sight. The bolt-action mechanism includes a side-mounted safety and is fed from a single included detachable box magazine. The shotgun is equipped with a smooth wood stock finished in a reddish stain, which features two factory sling swivels and is fitted with a black rubber ventilated recoil pad. Key markings transcribed verbatim include THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO. EST. 1870 NORTH HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. MODEL 55 12GA. on the left side of the barrel and THE ORIGINAL MARLIN GOOSE GUN 3 INCH MAGNUM CHAMBER on the top of the receiver. The serial number 22691128 is clearly visible on the left side of the receiver, while a JM proof mark is located on the right side of the barrel near the breech. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The shotgun is in fair to good condition. The blued finish on the barrel and receiver shows areas of thinning, with scattered light surface oxidation and minor spotting throughout. The wood stock displays multiple scratches, small dings, and abrasions consistent with field use, though it remains structurally sound. The action appears to function correctly and cycles smoothly, however, we have not function-tested this firearm. The black rubber recoil pad shows some signs of age but remains pliable and intact.
