Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 1501:
Sold for: $25
Description
This lot consists of a collection of 51 rounds of .243 Winchester ammunition and 67 empty brass casings suitable for reloading. Included is an empty vintage Peters High Velocity cardboard box, originally intended for twenty 100-grain pointed soft point Core-Lokt cartridges. The loaded ammunition features mixed projectile types, including several rounds with red polymer tips and others with soft-point or hollow-point designs. The cartridges and casings are housed across three containers: a green plastic ammunition box, a blue plastic ammunition box, and a white foam tray. Prominent markings include headstamps that specify Winchester 243 Win and R-P 243 Win, indicating manufacture by Winchester and Remington-Peters. The end flap of the vintage cardboard box is marked 243 Win. 100 Grain Ptd. Soft Point Core-Lokt Index 2432. The brass casings are intended for reloading use and appear to be in good condition.
Condition report:
The loaded ammunition is in good overall condition with clean projectiles and polished brass cases showing only minor surface oxidation consistent with age. The 67 empty brass casings exhibit varying degrees of surface tarnishing and shelf wear; some casings have spent primers while others have empty primer pockets. The green and blue plastic storage containers are intact with minor scuffing. The vintage Peters cardboard box is in fair condition, displaying significant shelf wear, edge fraying, and creasing typical of long-term storage.
