Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 1516:
Sold for: $45
Description
This lot consists of a collection of 200 .270 caliber reloading bullet tips from prominent manufacturers, including Hornady and Remington, designed for handloading .270 Winchester and similar cartridges. The assortment features two boxes of Hornady projectiles: one box of .270 caliber 130 gr SP Interlock bullets (stock #2730) and one box of .270/6.8 110 gr BTHP Match bullets with cannelure (stock #27200), both sized at .277 inch diameter. Also present is a vintage Remington bullet box with a period DuPont logo and a retailer sticker from Kerr’s Beverly Hills, labeled for 130 gr mushroom core projectiles. The final component is a cardboard box with handwritten markings identifying the contents as .270 caliber 130 gr hollow point bullets. Key markings transcribed from the Hornady packaging highlight the use of secant ogive profiles and AMP jacket designs intended for high levels of accuracy and concentricity. The vintage Remington packaging reflects mid-century design and branding, while the plain box provides basic identification for the included hollow point tips.
Condition report:
The modern Hornady boxes show minor shelf wear and light handling marks but remain structurally sound. The vintage Remington and plain cardboard boxes exhibit significant age-related wear, including surface staining, fraying, and edge tears. The bullets within the Hornady boxes appear bright and clean, free of oxidation. The projectiles in the Remington box show a darker patina and surface tarnish consistent with their age, while the bullets in the plain box are protected within a plastic bag and maintain a clear copper finish.
