Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 1572:
Sold for: $95
Description
This Gambles Model 110 is a bolt-action rifle chambered for .22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle rimfire cartridges, originally sold as a department store branded utility firearm. The rifle features a manual plunger-style cocking knob at the rear of the bolt assembly and is equipped with a fixed front blade sight and an elevator-adjustable rear notch sight. The action is set into a one-piece wood stock featuring a semi-pistol grip, front and rear sling swivels, and a black textured synthetic buttplate. Prominent markings on the barrel specify the model as GAMBLES MODEL 110-22-S-L-LR. Although the stock and bottom metal are configured for a detachable box magazine, this firearm is missing its magazine. The metal components show an aged blued finish with areas of thinning and patina, while the wood stock displays numerous signs of field use including various scratches, dings, and scuffs. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in fair to good condition, showing typical wear for a vintage sporting firearm. The original blued finish on the barrel and receiver has thinned significantly, presenting a mottled gray and brown patina with widespread light surface oxidation and handling wear. The bore was not inspected, but the exterior condition suggests a used state. The bolt action and manual cocking mechanism appear to function smoothly, though the firearm has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The wood stock is structurally sound with no major cracks visible, but it exhibits frequent scratches, small gouges, and dings consistent with field use. The detachable box magazine is missing.
