Lot 1578:
Sold for: $170
Description
This O.F. Mossberg & Sons Model 151M(a) is a semi-automatic rifle chambered in .22 Long Rifle, designed as a sporting and target firearm. It features a full-length Mannlicher-style wood stock with a cheekpiece and a pistol grip, incorporating a tubular magazine that loads through a port in the right side of the buttstock. The barrel is equipped with a hooded front sight and an adjustable rear leaf sight. The receiver is fitted with a sliding safety on the right side marked SAFE and a blued finish throughout the metal components. Verbatim barrel markings include O.F. MOSSBERG & SONS, INC., NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A., and 151M(a) 22 L.R. ONLY PAT. PEND. The wood stock displays a smooth finish and includes a metal forend cap and a mid-barrel band. No serial number is visible on this firearm, which is consistent with many rimfire rifles produced prior to 1968. We have not function-tested this firearm. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The rifle is in good overall condition. The blued finish shows thinning and light surface wear on the barrel and receiver, with some silvering at the muzzle and edges. The wood stock remains solid, showing handling marks, minor dings, and surface scratches consistent with field use. The action appears to function correctly when cycled manually, and the bore is bright with well-defined rifling.
