Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 1597:
Sold for: $95
Description
This lot consists of 600 rounds of .22 caliber rimfire ammunition, primarily in .22 Short, contained within thirteen separate boxes, tins, and containers. The inventory features four green boxes of Remington 22 High Velocity, one red box of Federal Hi-Power Maximum Velocity, and two yellow boxes marked Winchester Super-Speed and Western Xpert respectively. Further packaging includes one tan Western X Extra Power 22 box, one white Winchester Western X Super Extra Power 22 box, one red and white Hy-Score Subsonic box, and one green and white CCI mini-caps box. Specialized items include a round red and yellow tin marked 100 Flobert-Patronen BB Caps 6mm kugel Dynamit Nobel and a translucent orange plastic bottle containing loose brass-cased cartridges. Verbatim markings across the collection specify rim fire cartridges and various velocity ratings such as maximum velocity and subsonic. Visual inspection of the loose rounds and opened boxes reveals headstamps featuring the letter H and a diamond symbol. The variety of manufacturers and load types makes this a diverse collection of .22 Short ammunition.
Condition report:
The ammunition and its packaging exhibit conditions consistent with varying ages and storage environments. The cardboard boxes show typical shelf wear, including scuffing, edge fraying, and minor staining, though they remain structurally sound. The Dynamit Nobel tin and the plastic bottle are in good condition with clear markings. The cartridges themselves show a range of surface conditions; some brass cases remain bright while others exhibit moderate oxidation and darkening. The lead projectiles generally show a dull gray oxidized finish. The ammunition appears to be live and intact, although we have not function-tested these rounds.
