Description
A New England Firearms Versa-Pack single-shot break-action rifle chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge. This utility rifle features a blued barrel and a receiver finished with vibrant color case-hardening. The furniture consists of a smooth wood buttstock and a matching forend, with a black synthetic buttplate displaying the NEF logo. The sighting system includes a ramped front blade and a barrel-mounted adjustable rear leaf sight. Key markings include the manufacturer designation on the right side of the receiver, which reads NEW ENGLAND FIREARMS MANUFACTURED IN GARDNER, MA U.S.A. U.S. PAT. NO. 3988848, alongside the serial number NS 253324. The top of the barrel lug is marked VERSA-PACK CAL. 22 LONG RIFLE. The rifle utilizes a traditional exposed hammer and a break-action lever located behind the hammer. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The receiver exhibits excellent original color case-hardened finish with deep, vibrant colors. The blued finish on the barrel is largely intact, showing only minor scattered surface scratches and faint thinning at the muzzle. The bore was not borescoped but appears clean. The action functions smoothly and locks up securely. The wood stocks are in very good condition with some light handling dings and impressions consistent with use.
