Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 232:
Description
This lot consists of a collection of 500 rounds of .22 Long Rifle rimfire ammunition divided among ten individual containers. The grouping includes seven 50-round boxes of Federal Champion .22 Long Rifle ammunition featuring lead round nose projectiles and cartridge headstamps marked with the letter F. Also present is one 50-round box of Aguila Super Extra standard velocity 40-grain lead bullet ammunition, one 50-round box of Winchester Wildcat 22 high-velocity cartridges with stylized W headstamps, and one 100-round plastic case labeled Target Herter’s containing 40-grain plated round nose cartridges. Key markings transcribed verbatim from the packaging include FEDERAL AMMUNITION CHAMPION, Aguila .22 Super Extra Standard Velocity 40 Grains, WINCHESTER WILDCAT 22 HIGH VELOCITY RIMFIRE CARTRIDGES, and TARGET HERTER’S 22 LONG RIFLE 100 ROUNDS. Visual inspection of the open containers confirms the presence of manufacturers Federal and Winchester, although the Herter’s case appears to contain cartridges with the Federal F headstamp. The ammunition is intended for use in rifles and handguns chambered for the .22 Long Rifle cartridge.
Condition report:
The ammunition appears to be in good, live condition with clean brass casings and no significant evidence of corrosion or oxidation on the lead or plated projectiles. The various packaging components exhibit light to moderate shelf wear consistent with age and storage. The Winchester Wildcat box has been reinforced with brown adhesive tape on the end flaps, and the Aguila box shows some minor crushing to the top. The Federal boxes show light edge wear and minor surface scuffing. The Herter\'s plastic case is structurally sound and functional.
