Description
This Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight is a pump action shotgun chambered for 20 gauge 2-3/4 inch shells designed for lightweight field carry. It features a 28 inch barrel equipped with a ventilated rib and a fixed Full choke. Sighting is provided by a red fiber optic Raybar front sight mounted to the rib. The receiver and barrel show a blued finish that has thinned significantly, exhibiting surface oxidation and areas of light rust and pitting. The furniture consists of a checkered walnut stock and forend which display numerous dings and scratches from handling. It is fitted with an Ithaca-branded grip cap and a textured plastic buttplate. Prominent markings include the barrel address MODEL 37-FEATHERLIGHT – 20 GA.- 2 3/4 CHAMBER-PROOF TESTED and ITHACA GUN CO., INC., ITHACA, N.Y.-MADE IN U.S.A.-ROTO [anvil symbol] FORGED with the choke marked FULL. The serial number 1013817 is stamped on the right side of the receiver along with a P inside an anvil proof mark which is also present on the barrel. The receiver sides feature roll-engraved scenes of a hunting dog and ducks in flight. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The shotgun is in overall fair condition with moderate field wear. The original bluing has thinned significantly across the receiver and barrel, transitioning to a brown patina with visible surface oxidation and localized light rust/pitting. The bore remains bright with light fouling but no significant pitting observed. The walnut stock and forend show numerous scuffs, dings, and scratches consistent with extensive use, though the checkering remains defined. The pump action appears to function correctly, though the firearm has not been function-tested with live ammunition. The plastic buttplate shows wear and some debris in the textured areas.
