Lot 308:
RCBS Model 5-0-5 Mechanical Beam Reloading Scale
Sold for: $50
Description
This RCBS Model 5-0-5 mechanical beam reloading scale is designed for the precise weighing of smokeless powder charges in grains. The unit features a sturdy cast metal base finished in a signature RCBS green hammered enamel, supported by a single threaded leveling screw. The black-anodized balance beam is graduated in grains, indicated by the GN mark, and utilizes a three-poise system for fine weight adjustment up to a capacity of 505 grains. Prominent markings on the base label include RCBS, Ounce to Grain Conversion, and Manufactured by Ohaus Scale Corp. The scale includes its original gold-toned metal powder pan and wire hanger. Also present is the original cardboard retail box, which is printed with RCBS Omark Industries, Model 5-0-5 Reloading Scale, and the reference number 09071.
Condition report:
The scale is in good overall condition, with the green hammered finish remaining vibrant and showing only minor signs of use. The balance beam is straight with crisp, legible graduations, and the three poises adjust smoothly along the beam. The agate bearings are clean, allowing the beam to pivot freely. The gold-toned metal powder pan and wire hanger are in good order with minimal surface wear. The original cardboard box shows typical signs of age and shelf wear, including minor scuffing, edge softening, and light discoloration.
