Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 382:
Sold for: $60
Description
This lot consists of a collection of 229 empty and fired .223 Remington nickel-plated cartridge cases intended for reloading. The collection features mixed headstamps from several prominent manufacturers and is organized within one blue plastic Berry’s Mfg ammunition box and two clear plastic bags. The blue box contains 50 cases seated in the internal grid with one additional case resting on top, while the remaining 178 cases are contained loose within the plastic bags. Verbatim headstamp markings include DOUBLE TAP .223 REM, WINCHESTER .223 REM, R – P .223 REM, HORNADY .223 REM, and FEDERAL .223 REM. The cases feature a silver-toned nickel-plated finish over a brass core, which provides enhanced corrosion resistance and smoother feeding. These items are strictly empty casings and do not contain primer, gunpowder, or projectiles.
Condition report:
The casings are in fired, used condition with the nickel plating showing a bright, silver-toned appearance. Surface wear is present in the form of light scratches, minor dings, and typical carbon residue around the necks and mouths consistent with previous discharge. The headstamps remain clear and legible. No significant corrosion or structural damage is observed, though the cases have not been cleaned or resized and will require standard preparation before being reloaded.
