Lot 396:
Sold for: $325
Description
This High Standard Sentinel Mk I is a double-action revolver chambered in .22 L.R. featuring a 9-shot swing-out cylinder and a short snub-nose barrel. The firearm is constructed with a blued finish on the frame and cylinder, complemented by a polished steel finish on the hammer and trigger. The revolver is equipped with smooth, two-piece wood grips and fixed sights integrated into the frame and barrel. Key markings include the model designation on the left side of the barrel as SENTINEL MK I over CALIBER — .22 L.R. and the manufacturer information on the right side of the barrel as HIGH STANDARD SPORTING FIREARMS HAMDEN, CONN. U.S.A. The right side of the frame is stamped with the serial number S 13140. An aftermarket inscription reading HELEN has been hand-scratched into the finish on the right side of the frame above the trigger guard. Note – All firearms require a federal 4473 background check.
Condition report:
The revolver is in fair to good overall condition. The blued finish shows moderate wear throughout, with significant scratching and finish loss concentrated on the underside of the trigger guard. The smooth wood grips exhibit various minor scuffs and dings consistent with handling. The bore and cylinder chambers show some visible carbon residue but appear otherwise well-maintained. The action appears to function correctly, though we have not function-tested this firearm. The frame features a notable aftermarket engraving that affects the aesthetic value.
