Gun Collectors Dream Auction #84 June 13th & 14th
Lot 464:
Sold for: $130
Description
This lot consists of seven semi-automatic pistol magazines designed for the Smith & Wesson Model 59 series of handguns chambered in 9mm. These magazines are constructed with blued steel bodies in a double-stack configuration that tapers to a single-feed top. Each unit is equipped with a steel floorplate and features witness holes along the side for checking ammunition capacity. Verbatim markings found on the baseplates include the manufacturer designation S & W and the caliber 9 MM. Additionally, several baseplates feature a small stamped letter A. The magazine bodies include a rectangular cutout for the magazine catch and are characteristic of early Smith & Wesson metal-framed pistol accessories.
Condition report:
The magazines are in used condition with a blued finish that shows moderate wear, including scratches, finish thinning, and scattered areas of light surface oxidation. The steel bodies and floorplates remain intact without significant structural damage. Feed lips appear functional and the internal springs retain tension.
