Description

This lot consists of a pair of US military surplus M2A1 steel ammunition cans designed for the secure storage and transport of small arms ammunition. Constructed from heavy-gauge steel with a gasket-sealed side-latching lid and a top-mounted folding handle, these containers feature a standard olive drab painted finish. The first can is stenciled in yellow on one side with the text 1140 CTGS 5.56MM, BLANK M200, CARTONS, and the lot number LC-07E922-447, indicating it originally contained blank cartridges from the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Embossed markings on the hinge-side end of this can read 07, M2A1, and S.C.F. The second can displays embossed markings on its end consisting of 12, M2A1, and S.C.F. Both units feature a stackable design with a recessed bottom for stable nesting.

Condition report:

The olive drab finish on both cans shows typical signs of field use and long-term storage, including scattered surface scratches, paint chips, and localized areas of light surface oxidation, particularly along the hinges, edges, and latches. The metal remains structurally sound with no significant dents or structural compromises visible. The rubber gaskets appear to be present and intact, though the airtight integrity has not been professionally tested. The side-latching mechanisms and folding handles remain fully functional.
