This lot consists of 37 rounds of Winchester Supreme Black Talon .45 Automatic ammunition, a discontinued and highly collectible defensive load. Each cartridge is topped with a 230-grain SXT hollow point projectile featuring the distinctive black Lubalox coating, which was designed to reduce barrel friction and fouling. The rounds are loaded into nickel-plated brass cases for enhanced corrosion resistance and improved feeding reliability in semi-automatic firearms. The ammunition is housed in two original black cardboard boxes with red and orange horizontal striping. Verbatim markings on the packaging include the Winchester horse and rider logo, WINCHESTER Supreme, BLACK TALON, and DEEP PENETRATOR DP. The end flaps are marked 45 AUTOMATIC, 230 GR. SXT, and identify the product code as S45A. Individual cartridge headstamps are marked W-W 45 AUTO.
Condition report:
The ammunition appears to be in very good, live condition. The nickel plating on the cases is bright and free of significant tarnish or corrosion. The black Lubalox coating on the projectiles is largely intact across the lot. The primers remain seated and appear factory-original. Both cardboard boxes show visible shelf wear consistent with age, including scuffing to the black finish, whitening along the corners and edges, and some minor fraying at the opening flaps, though the structures remain intact.
